MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

THE BOARD HAS TAKEN FOLLOWING TRANSPARENCY MEASURES IN ITS ACTIVITIES:

01 Established Information Cell at Bangalore. 
02 Establishment of Environment Training Institute under the assistance of Danida  
03 Evaluation of comprehensive toxicity index for pesticide, pharmaceutical, tannery Waste  
04 Complaint cell has been established for early redressel of public complaints.  
05 Established an exclusive cell for effective implementation of Hazardous Waste (Management and Handling) Rules.  
06 Board has launched four "Parisara Vahini" vehicles for identifying vehicles emitting thick smoke in Bangalore city. These vahinies also give awareness about effect of vehicular pollution on environment.  
07 All Regional & Divisional Offices of the Board has been equipped with necessary hardware for computerization.
08 Establishment of Eco Toxicological Laboratory.  
09 Consent mechanism has been tuned up for fast disposal of consent application.
10 Delegation of powers to the Regional Officers and Divisional Officers for speedy disposal of consent applications.
11 Flexibility in consent renewal period.

In addition to the above Board has taken up following initiatives:

01 Establishment of R & D cell.  
02 Central Laboratory of the Board is being upgraded to ISO 9002.   
03 Awareness programs on protection of environment & pollution control.  
04 An Eco-park is being established at Bangalore.  
05 Computerization of  all the activities of the Board.
