STATE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE COMMISSION
ITS ORIGIN, POWERS AND FUNCTIONS
The Re-organization of Translation Department and constitution of Mysore Official language (Legislative Commission) was considered and orders were issued in Order No: Law 5 LMP 1973, dated 7.6.1973. The First Official Language (Legislative) Experts' Committee was constituted with Sri K.R. Gopivallabha Iyengar, Retd. Judge, High Court of Mysore, Bangalore as Chairman and Sri R. Rangaiah, Advocate, Bangalore as full time member.

The Official Language Committee is being re-organized and continued from time to time. The present Official Language Committee has being re-constituted vide G.O. No: DPAL 20 Bhanivi 2001, dated 24.9.2001.
The term of the committee will expire on 30.5.2002.
The Purpose of the Committee.- The Official Language Committee will scrutinize the Karnataka Acts and the Rules, the Central Acts translated by the Directorate and certifies its correctness. The Glossary of the Kannada Legal Words i.e., Kanunu Padakosha and preparation of Law Lexicons is also being done by the Official Language Committee.
